We can clearly see the exquisite, magnificent and unparalleled atmosphere of the Tang Dynasty from the film, and the sense of proportion is excellent. It can be said that Tang Cheng contributed a lot to the creation of this sense of reality.

Actually, there are many movie theaters located in various parts of China, so let me take you around the city. Go to Tang Cheng in the footsteps of the demon cat first!

First stop:Hubei Xiangyang Tang Cheng movie and television base

Tang Cheng Film and Television Base covers an area of 600 mu. Only the first phase of the project was built for filming The Legend of the Demon Cat, and Meng Haoran Cultural Tourism Zone and San’guo City will be built in the future. The time when I went to Tang Cheng happened to be winter, that is, the moment when Huang Xuan stood in the snow and showed his chest muscles to meditate.

Tang Cheng Film and Television Base is divided into seven main areas: Suzaku Gallery, East City, West City, Seiryuji, Huyulou, Tang Palace and Gao Lishi House. These places basically appeared in the movie "The Legend of the Demon Cat".

Mingdemen is the entrance to the scenic spot, and the entrance is the central axis of Chang ‘an — — Suzaku Gallery, reaching the Tang Palace. This Suzaku Gallery is the road where Shōta Sometani entered the palace to see the emperor and exorcise evil spirits in The Legend of the Demon Cat.

On both sides of Suzaku Gallery are the East Market and the West Market, both of which belonged to commercial areas in Chang ‘an in Tang Dynasty. In The Legend of the Demon Cat, the houses and alleys where Shōta Sometani and Huang Xuan explore and chat are all in the west market.

The most important scene in The Legend of the Demon Cat — — The feast of bliss took place in the Calyx Xianghui Building, which is located on the left side of the Tang Palace, at the red box on the right in the picture below. Calyx Xianghui Building is the first building in the world, which ranks before Tengwang Pavilion, Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Tower and Stork Tower. Further to the left is the Imperial Garden. The word "bliss" given to Hiroshi Abe by the emperor played by Edward Zhang happened in the pavilion of the Imperial Garden.

There is also an important scene in the imperial garden, that is, Fengqilou, which falls in the lower left corner. It is the old palace where Huang Xuan stole the treasures in the Seven Treasures Letter, and Huang Xuan walked up from a passage in the rockery in the imperial garden. The stills below entered the stairs in the room from underground.

In the picture of Tang Cheng in the snow, the circular building on the central axis is the Tang Palace. After the interior of the Tang Palace was filmed, the props have been removed. Although you can’t feel the splendor in the film when you go to the scene, the stills have survived.

In addition, there are two main scenes: Hu Yulou and Seiryuji, which are separated from the city by a lake and a river respectively. The very steep bridge that Shōta Sometani stepped on in the picture below connects Dongshi and Greater Seiryuji. Anyone who has seen a movie will be familiar with it. Shōta Sometani asked the truth about the melon farmer’s cat. A scene happened in front of this bridge.

Hu Yulou, separated by a lake, is the brothel where Qin Hao and his men went in the film, where they first met Crystal. The red box in the picture below is Hu Yulou.

Further north of Hu Yulou is Gao Lishi Mansion, which is separated from the Palace by a river. It is surrounded by a round wall, just on the left in the picture below.

The buildings in the Tang Dynasty are mainly simple and solemn, and the corners on both sides of Zhuquemen Gate Tower are inclined upwards, which is also very special.

It is not an easy task to build such a city to restore the Tang Dynasty. It is understood that Tang Cheng introduced the flowing water of the Han River into the city, forming a trend of "eight waters around Chang ‘an". At the same time, 20,000 trees were planted in the city, and it took six years to complete the construction.

The movie "The Legend of the Demon Cat" is just the opening chapter of the Tang Cheng Film and Television Base. Followed by a new crew to shoot, the latest is Chen Kun’s TV series "Burn the Right to Play the World", which tells the story of Ning Yi, the king of Chu, and has traveled to Xiangyang and Wuxi for filming. Chen Kun’s photos published in Weibo and the scenes in the stills exposed by the film can be said to be quite familiar. It is the Suzaku Gallery in Xiangyang Tang City.

According to relevant staff, at present, more than 40 crews have reached a framing agreement with Tang Cheng. For Tang Cheng, this is just the beginning. In addition, Xiangyang has also built a Seoul in Zaoyang City under its jurisdiction, which is a large-scale retro architectural complex integrating the essence of Han Dynasty architecture and classical garden landscape, and will also be used for film and television shooting.
