30 days, 1300 kilometers! The young man ran back to Chaozhou, Guangdong from Sanya, Hainan.

From Hainan to Chaozhou, there are countless ways to "go home", but Lai Wenbing, a post-90 s boy from Chaozhou, chose the most primitive one — — Running. On September 12 this year, he started from Sanya, Hainan, passing through Zhanjiang and across Guangdong, and returned to Chaozhou on the morning of October 15, with a total distance of 1,300 kilometers and an actual running time of 30 days. In these 30 days, Lai Wenbing broke two pairs of shoes and cried three times, which cost about 8,000 yuan. He used to be a "stranger" in the eyes of his family. He was afraid to return home for half a year, but he dreamed of traveling all over China … …

Run 31 marathons and cry 3 times.

At 8 o’clock in the morning on October 15, Lai Wenbing completed the last stop of this challenge: starting from Jiexi and running for 100 kilometers, he arrived at the People’s Square in Chaozhou. In the applause and cheers of relatives and friends, Lai Wenbing, who could not restrain his inner excitement, burst into tears.

Sanya, Zhanjiang, Yangjiang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanwei, Jieyang, Chaozhou … … In 30 days, Lai Wenbing left a running trail in 24 prefectures and county-level cities in Hainan and Guangdong provinces.

On the day of the interview, Chaozhou coincided with light rain. Lai Wenbing was wearing a long-distance running sportswear with the words "Running China" printed on it when he went downstairs with an umbrella to lead the reporters. Like many long-distance runners, Lai Wenbing is black and thin with a tendon.

Lai Wenbing is very talkative, especially when talking about the long-distance running experience. Two years ago, after reading a book "Ten Years on foot in China", he came up with the idea of traveling around China. It was then that he began to prepare for the long-distance running challenge from Sanya to Chaozhou.

From September 12th this year, Lai Wenbing took the first step of "going home" in Sanya, Hainan, and ran from the southernmost tip of Hainan Island to the northernmost tip in six days. Then he took a ferry from Haikou to Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, and started the second phase of the long-distance running challenge from western Guangdong to the whole of Guangdong Province.

Lai Wenbing actually ran for 30 days due to the typhoon running suspension in the middle days. In the first 29 days, Lai Wenbing insisted on running a full marathon every day. He starts at 6: 30 every morning and usually runs 42.195 kilometers before 11 am. After finishing his daily running task, he will spend the afternoon feeling the local customs. On the last day, Lai Wenbing ran 100 kilometers in one breath and ran back to Chaozhou from Jiexi overnight. Counting, Lai Wenbing ran 31 marathons in 30 days.

In this 1300-kilometer alternative long-distance race, Lai Wenbing broke two pairs of shoes, spent more than 8,000 yuan on accommodation and catering, and cried three times. In addition to leaving excited tears after finally reaching the finish line, the other two tears were slightly bitter. "One time I ran and ran, and I recalled the wind and sun and the difficulties and obstacles all the way, and I was moved to cry." Lai Wenbing said that another time, after arriving in Jiangmen before the Mid-Autumn Festival, I found that my local friends were all home for the holiday and I was still alone in the field, and my tears fell.

"You should run down the road you choose with tears in your eyes … …” Lai Wenbing said with a wry smile.

Take running as a practice while you are young without regrets.

Why did you go to so much trouble to run back to Chaozhou from Hainan? Lai Wenbing said that similar questions have been asked by people around him countless times. But in his view, it is not necessary to pursue utilitarianism to do one thing. "Just for the dream of long-distance running in my heart, I want to do something while I am young so that I won’t leave regrets and regrets."

Lai Wenbing’s dream of long-distance running begins with his affinity with running. In 2012, 22-year-old Lai Wenbing went to work in Foshan. He gets up at 5: 30 every morning on time and goes for a walk in Shiwan Park. Lai Wenbing saw many people running in the park in the morning, so he followed suit. Who knows, this run made him fall in love with running and found his potential in long-distance running.

From the initial jogging, to 10 kilometers, 20 kilometers, and then to the half marathon, the whole marathon … … Lai Wenbing’s love for running is out of control. On October 1, 2013, a half marathon was held in Rongcheng District, Jieyang City. Lai Wenbing took part in the competition with a try mentality, but unexpectedly won the first place in Chaoshan with a score of 1 hour, 22 minutes and 48 seconds.

After tasting the sweetness, Lai Wenbing devoted almost all his energy to running and even resigned from his job in Foshan. In 2014, Lai Wenbing joined Chaozhou Anbu Spark Long-distance Running Team, and in September 2016, he was certified as a running coach of Beijing Bigo Running College and became the long-distance running coach of Anbu Spark Long-distance Running Team.

According to Lai Wenbing, he studied woodcarving for eight months. At that time, the master intended to accept him as a disciple, but considering that he needed to calm down and study in the woodcarving industry, Lai Wenbing chose long-distance running.

But Lai Wenbing never regretted it. He said that he was tired and happy from the simple running at the beginning to his passion now, and took this long-distance running as a way of life, even as a practice to meet a better self.

"Heterogeneous" in the eyes of family members

I was afraid to go home for half a year

Although Lai Wenbing sincerely loves long-distance running, in the eyes of his family and relatives, he looks like a "different kind". Lai Wenbing recalled that since he quit his job to join the long-distance running team in 2014, he has become an "unemployed bum" in the eyes of his family and relatives.

The training in the hot sun and summer heat made Lai Wenbing look thinner and darker, and his weight once fell below 100 kg. At first, the family did not understand, and resolutely opposed Lai Wenbing’s choice of long-distance running. He also had many quarrels with his family.

When Lai Wenbing was 5 years old, his father died in a car accident, and his mother raised five children by herself. Once, Lai Wenbing came home after training, and he was sweaty and bumped into his mother’s "gun": "You just play all day and don’t look for a job. Who will support you in the future?" Lai Wenbing is the youngest son in the family and the only brother and sister who has not yet married.

After that, Lai Wenbing had a big fight with his mother for half a year and dared not go home, hiding in his sister’s home to "take refuge". In the meantime, many relatives and friends took turns to persuade, hoping that Lai Wenbing would give up running and find a regular job to start a family. However, the stubborn Lai Wenbing did not choose to compromise and made up his mind to make everyone sit up and take notice.

He obtained the certificate of running coach and became a long-distance running coach, and constantly communicated and explained with his family through various channels. Lai Wenbing often said: "The final destination of long-distance running is not the end point, but the end point is returning home."

Gradually, the family was moved by Lai Wenbing’s persistence and persistence, and began to understand and accept his love. With the support of his family, Lai Wenbing was able to take the first step to challenge himself. He also hopes to start his own business and open a running training institution in the future to repay his family’s understanding and support.
